The verdict
Rubrik appears in 2 AI-ranked categories — best position #5 for cloud-native database backup tools for disaster recovery.
Strongest enterprise cloud DR posture — immutable, air-gapped backups, ransomware detection/recovery, near-instant mount-based restores, and broad first-party support for Oracle, SQL Server, SAP HANA, Postgres, plus cloud-native (RDS, Azure SQL); SaaS control plane reduces operational burden. Near-tie with Cohesity below.
Where Rubrik falls short, per the models
- Claude Priced and designed for large enterprises — overkill and cost-prohibitive for small teams or single-database shops, and it's an all-in platform, not a lightweight point tool.
Top alternatives per the models: Kasten K10 · pgBackRest · Velero · Portworx Backup
Integrated orchestrated recovery plans with cyber recovery focus, efficient blueprints for VMware/apps, fast immutable recovery and validation; delivers strong value in ransomware-heavy real-world use with unified backup+DR.
Where Rubrik falls short, per the models
- Grok Orchestration historically more tied to its backup platform; less emphasis on continuous replication vs. snapshot-based for some ultra-low RPO scenarios.
